During the day we will accompany you on one of our pre-planned walks, taking in the local sights and surroundings. We will call at the local market, visit the historic Botanical Gardens in Samoens, and explore the stunning Sixt fer a Cheval National Park. and the trip would not be complete without taking the chairlift up the mountain to appreciate the stunning Alpine views, and the incredible sight of Mont Blanc (please don’t pronounce the “c”)

The weekly itinerary is flexible, to allow us to take account of the group, the weather, and any special events that are taking place in the area.

However, your week will be similar to the following itinerary.

Tuesday

Chalets of Salvadon

Following the track under cover of the forest, discover the country cottages of Salvadon nestled in a small narrow valley located at the foot of the Avoudrues mountains. 2 brothers continue the family tradition of cheesemaking in this remote location.

Ascent time - 3 hours  Descent time - 2 hours

Lowest Altitude - 818m  Max Altitude - 1713m

Type of Terrain - forest track Difficulty - moderate

Wednesday

Samoens - Local Outdoor Market - Botanical Gardens.

A local walk, from Lac Bleu in Morillon village, along the Giffre river towards the village of Samoens to visit the outdoor market and the famous Jaysinia Botanical Gardens, specialising in local produce.   

Ascent time - 3 hours 30 Descent time - 2 hours 30

Lowest Altitude - 682m Max Altitude - 1590m

Type of Terrain - forest track Difficulty - quite easy

Friday

The Lac de Gers

A circular walk, starting from Samoens, to discover the alpine pastures of Gers. The return route leads back through Sixt, and joins the bottom section of the Cascades piste - a 14km route from Flaine.  

Ascent time - 3 hours 30   Descent time - 3 hours

Lowest Altitude - 698m   Max Altitude - 1544m

Type of Terrain - marked path

Difficulty - easy to moderate

Saturday

Depending on your flight time you may have the time to take the Moriillon chairlift, or perhaps a short walk from the chalet before your return transfer to Geneva.

Thursday

After a leisurely breakfast, travel by minibus for a day at Lake Annecy. Nestling beneath the snow-capped peaks of the Aravis range, Annecy posesses a splendid lakeside setting. Declared in a class of its own in the national prizes for French towns in bloom, Annecy is an historic town of cobbled streets, tiled roofs and beautiful canals. Perhaps you will choose a morning exploring the old town and an afternoon by the lake.

Sunday

Fly to Geneva where you will be met and driven by Minibus to the chalet (60 minute journey)

Monday

Morillon - Alpine Pastures of the Vieille

A local walk, to and from the doors of the chalet, exploring the local area and the mountain pastures that are transformed into ski runs  during the Winter.

Ascent time - 3 hours 30  Descent time - 2 hours 30

Lowest Altitude - 682m     Max Altitude - 1590m

Type of Terrain - forest track  Difficulty - quite easy
